Post Title: Teacher of the Deaf (Full time / Permanent)

We are a vibrant two-form entry Primary School with a Nursery and additional “bulge” classes (in Years 2, 4 and 5). We are culturally and socially diverse and have a strong inclusive ethos. We have specialist total communication provision for up to 12 deaf children where children are fully integrated into mainstream classes with specialist support provided by Teachers of the Deaf and Communicators.

We are looking for a teacher who can offer:
• Qualified Teacher status with at least 3 years’ experience in a Primary setting.
• A proven track record as a Good or Outstanding teacher.
• A recognised qualification to teach deaf children (TOD).
• Be passionate about inclusion, including that of Deaf children within our school community.
• Have BSL level 1.
• Commitment to continuing professional development.
• Enthusiasm, commitment and resilience.
• Personal organisation and good ICT skills.
• Establish working relationships with all members of the school community, including staff, families and children.
• Develop effective links with a range of agencies to support pupils’ personalised learning.
• Write focused and relevant Individual Education Plans.
• Use ICT to support teaching and management.
• Be able to maintain a positive attitude at all times.
• Be flexible in work practices.
• Work effectively independently and as part of a team.
• Promote the PDC within the school and wider community.
• Have enthusiasm and energy for teaching
