London Academy is an ambitious 11-19 mixed multicultural comprehensive school in North London. We have 1500 students with 480 in the Sixth Form, and we are oversubscribed. In September 2015 we expanded to become an all-through Academy with the opening of our primary school. The Academy has a bespoke pedagogy underpinned by a belief that all students can achieve through effort, deliberate practice, and engagement in a meaningful and purposeful curriculum.

You will deal with a wide variety of work up to ‘A’ level in all three sciences, therefore you must be qualified, experienced, an effective communicator, with strong interpersonal and management skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.

You will lead the Science Technician Team in the provision of general practical support in the Science Department and to the Science Staff. You will provide direct administrative support to the joint Heads of Science. You will have a secure understanding of health and safety procedures and in conjunction with the Joint Heads of Science will ensure the proper implementation of the safety policy and the preparation and application of risk assessments within the science department.

You will be enthusiastic, flexible, organised and methodical, with excellent attention to detail. The ability to prioritise a busy workload is essential, as is the need to meet deadlines whilst dealing with interruptions. Experience of working in a school environment would be an advantage but is not essential. Experience in use of spreadsheets and working with databases is essential.

London Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

A job description, person specification and application form is available from our website, www.londonacademy.org.uk, but you can also request an application pack by emailing office@londonacademy.org.uk. If you want to work with us, then we look forward to hearing from you. We welcome informal discussions, please contact Alex Warburton, Deputy Principal.

Applications to: Paddy McGrath, Principal, London Academy, Spur Road, Edgware, Middlesex HA8 8DE.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 1st May 4pm.
