Job information

There’s nothing pedestrian about working in Barnet. As a commissioning council, we’ve been in the driving seat of innovation and transformation for the past eight years. We continually look to challenge the status quo and find better ways to deliver services, whilst remaining focused on meeting the needs of our residents and tackling the financial challenges we face head on.

Barnet’s plans to 2020 and beyond are bold and exciting. We’re committed to making sure the borough remains a great place to live and work, while planning for the future. We're doing this by delivering one of the biggest regeneration and growth programmes in London responsibly, making sure our communities benefit - including Brent Cross. We are also ensuring we take care of our much loved neighbourhoods, parks and open spaces and harnessing the great community spirit in the borough. And we will support people to live happy, healthy and independent lives.

Strategic communications play a crucial role in delivering our plans, and as a result, so will you. As Media and Social Media Officer, you will play a key role in managing the council’s reputation and delivering key service changes through a period of transformation. You will thrive working in a busy press office, fielding reactive enquiries, planning for milestones and proactively securing positive coverage on key issues, as well managing our social media channels.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, creative people with lots of energy, great people skills, and a can do approach. In return you'll get to work to continue building your communications career in a busy, high profile and supportive team that sits at the heart of a leading London Borough.

If shortlisted you will be required to bring photographic ID to your interview to prove your identity.
