Based in the Council’s Community Safety Team, these posts will support the Community Safety Partnership to respond to all forms of anti-social behaviour including environmental crime, unauthorised encampments, graffiti, flyposting, fly tipping.

Purpose of Job:

The post holder will have extensive knowledge and experience in tackling all forms of anti-social behaviour using the tools and powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, The Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Housing Act 1988 (and amendments) to ensure that cases referred to the Community Safety Team are investigated and assessed using established problem-solving techniques, securing interventions from teams across the council and the partnership to achieve positive resolution of the cases.

The post holder will be responsible for developing multi-agency action plans with a focus on the victim, offender and the location. Engaging with the local community and victims affected. Contributing towards the partnership objectives to reduce the perception of crime and ASB, increase community confidence in the council and the police, keeping residents informed and taking enforcement action using a broad range of enforcement tools and powers where necessary.

The post will also act as a point of contact for officers across the council and community safety partnership, providing expert advice on problem solving complex crime and ASB cases.

The post holder will support the various multi-agency delivery groups and case panels including the Community Safety MARAC, the ASB Working Group and relevant task and finish groups.

The post holder will be part of the Councils Community Safety Team, supporting the Assistant Director, Community Safety & Regulatory Services and Community Safety Managers to implement the Community Safety Strategy priority to tackle anti-social behaviour to improve community safety across Barnet.
Key accountabilities/duties/responsibilities:

The post holder will be expected to adhere to local policies, practices and statutory guidance designed to respond to all forms of anti-social behaviour, investigations, enforcement and information sharing.

The post holder will be expected to investigate all cases and progressing enforcement action where appropriate, preparing case files, liaising with the legal team, securing detailed witness statements and evidence, recovering outstanding fine payments.

The post holder will be expected to act as a point of contact for the Community Safety Team, a professional witness for the service, conduct and co-ordinate multi-agency site visits and environmental audits.

The post holder will be expected to keep accurate case records, developing, monitoring and updating multi-agency case action plans. Producing case briefings, power point presentation, keeping all stakeholders updated with progress including partners, elected members, victims, the local community affected, securing increased satisfaction and confidence in the response of the council and the police in dealing with the complaint.
